Atmosphere

I'm a metal head at heart, so I like this. (I'm also R&B at heart. Go figure.)

If your up for a couple "just my opinion, but...", then my main two thoughts is the bass could be louder and the vocals could be quieter. I'd probably also roll off some of the highs on the voice, which I assume is SynthV or something similar?

Hi Mike,

I’ll probably give that a try later this morning. I like when people tell me what they are hearing. Sometimes I sit for hours with these headphones on. I’m sure my eardrums take a beating. I usually wait a day before posting something.

Most of what I do is instrumental so I tend to favor the vocals for songs like this. I wasn’t familiar with SynthV until a few minutes ago. I like the price and licensing! Unfortunately it’s not available for iPad at this time. The lyrics and vocals are from Looperman. He goes by the name CallMeDezz. I am 99.9% sure he is a real human living in the UK. We have never met except for a few text messages.

Thank you for commenting. Much appreciated. I wish this forum was a bit more talkative! Have a great weekend.

I like the style!

The rhythm guitar sounds oddly "springy"? Maybe too much delay?

Like the multi-VOX. But, the reverb is very bright...

Overall, it sounds to me like the whole mix is competing with the ultra bright vocals.

"ATMOSPHERE"
Try darkening your mix and send each track to a nice "scooped" wide open space

Thank you! Can you tell me what your are listening on? When I first started this iPad music stuff, I was very concerned about details in the mix. One day I was out with some friends and they wanted to hear my music. They took out their cell phones and started listening. Of course, it sounded as expected on teeny tiny speakers. Every few months I burn a CD and play it in my Toyota. I figure if it sounds okay on an average car stereo, then I'm satisfied. Thanks for listening. Have a good day!

I plug my Mac Mini into my TV in my living room lol... Decent Bose bookshelf speakers and 8" floor monitors.
The advantage is I always have a "consistent" reference. TV, CDs, Movies, Radio, The News, My recordings... everything winds up sounding pretty much the same.
