Jazz guitar player for a long, long time. Focal dystonia hit, different treatments didn't work. Although still teaching guitar, change of direction. Formally studied music for cinema, tv and videogames. Don't think I'll become a professional but so very totally and happily immersed.

Who are some of your favorite guitarists, jazz or otherwise?

Thanks for you welcome!

I remember that, being interviewed, Pat Metheny was asked who the best all time guitar player was. Before the interviewer could even finish the question, he answered "Wes Montgomery!" It was obviously tongue in cheek, almost everybody agrees in that there's no such thing as "best all time guitarist", he was just showing his love for Wes in a light tone. If I was asked the same question (I know yours is not "best" but "favorite") I would answer Pat Metheny with the same celerety and tongue in cheek-ness. I adore the guy.

Another one that comes instantly to mind is the sublime Jeff Beck.

Are you a guitarist too?

I am primarily a keyboard/piano player these days--I *love* guitar, but arthritis in my hands ended my guitar-performing days
That said, however, you and I must be "twin sons of different mothers": the PMG and Jeff Beck are at the absolute top of my list, as well

You've have likely watched Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott's at least as many times as I have, but here is a convenient link for next time:

Yes! That line up is my favorite JB Band encarnation ever.

Sorry to hear about the arthritis. Dystonia also ended going onstage again for me althogh I still teach guitar. I bet you're finding joy and self-realisation with the keyboards.
