Sorry about the ads on the sides

I took them down a minute ago and was going to title this "Sorry about the ads that were on the sides", but then figured people might want to see what I was talking about. So I put them back up.

Gearspace does these ("Site skins" or whatever they're called), and they try to sell me (Realitone) on them. So yesterday I wondered if VI-C should do the same and André put a test version here.

Cut to the chase - I really dislike how it looks, so I don't think we'll do it. But in case anyone is interested in the inner workings of stuff like this, there you go.

I think it's all about size and colors. I uploaded a more subdued ad, quickly put together. I'd go almost monochrome, with even smaller images. And I smoothed the fade in. Refresh the page to see the difference.

And people can X it off if they want to.

The only ones that are mildly annoying to me Mike are the flashing ads (wherever they are located, top, bottom or sides).

This is probably the only site on planet earth where the ads are welcome because we get to see what’s out there since they are all relevant to the craft. Full disclosure however, when I see an ad for a library or music course (and almost always we are familiar with vendor), I’m expecting a sale price or discount code to be associated with the ad link, lol.

As far as being on the side, I didn’t think about it until you mentioned it, and now I kinda can’t unsee it, lol! To me it’s fine. If it helps keep this site alive then so be it.
